…the farmhouse…

Sometimes we’ll rent out the house…its a great place for a small wedding, family party, any kind of retreat for a group with comfy sleeping for about ten people.  Renting the house and the cabin together is possible also, sleeping about twelve to fifteen.  After that, there’s oodles of room for tents.

By the time I got down to the chicken yard with the camera, they’d already eaten the sprouted grains I threw among the blueberry bushes.  See how they’ve totally cleaned out around the bushes…and fertilized them…  This field of about 60 bushes used to look big…now it looks small.  I just planted 30 more bushes this year…and there’s another 12 bushes by the cabins…so over a hundred bushes…sounds like a lot, but not really.  Most of the plants I made my self years ago from hard wood cuttings…5″ chunks of dormant stem, minus the fruit buds, inserted into a sand and peat mix, kept shaded and watered for a year, then planted out…they’re pretty tiny the first years and need to be in the garden before their field life.

Blueberries are great…no shells, husks, big old seeds, thorns, prickles, twining vines, no ladders needed…incredibly nutritious….make great smoothies and ice cream.
